There is a song from many long years ago titled I’ll Take Romance…I mention this from many long years ago because my happy self happens to be 65 years young, and one of my many favorite sayings is that my body lives in the year 2006, and my mind lives in the 1950s.
The reason my mind still abides in the past is because those were the days when one could easily locate some true romantic music, pick a rose up at the local store, or a neighbor’s garden, call up your girl, and ask her to go with you for a ride in the country.
Naturally, the first time I did it, I didn’t tell her exactly where we were going, but bless her heart, she always knew she could trust me. Anyway, our arrival at a particular open spot on a high hill, and along-side of a river below, was planned for about dusk dark…and of course, it was summer!
She thought she knew what was on my mind, and she was correct, except that she didn’t have a clue about how I was going to pursue it—I always take great pleasure in the chase!
After showing her the beautiful view, I proceeded to open the trunk of the car, pulled out a fold-up table and two chairs, set them up, and then placed two glasses and some snacks on the table, poured the tea, and we had a very wonderful romantic meal…but I wasn’t finished!
By the time we were finished, it was dark and the moon was out. I then opened all the windows and doors on the car, turned the radio to a station that played mood music, and asked her to dance under the stars with me…and today, there are absolutely some wonderful memories pressed between the pages of my mind.
Nowadays, I have thought of the same thing, except I would more than likely sneak a costume of Batman or Superman along, and change in the woods.
Maybe even rent a cabin with a fireplace, and take something along to cook over the fire.
Another neat little touch that seems to work well is writing a love poem to her…no, she doesn’t care if its good or bad poetry!
If its summer, fall, or spring, and you know there will be a light rain, you and your loved one could take a tent into the woods around 8:00pm, and just go to sleep. The patter of the rain on the tent will make you slumber like a baby…and when you awaken later the next morning, you both will be well rested, and in a wonderful mood to _____________you fill in the blank space!
In many places, you can rent a car from the past…rent one from when you were younger, and take a long drive to where you both once had a close encounter, and do it again.
Something else that is different is to send your loved out to the store, or somewhere, to get something for you…while they are gone, put a blanket and pillow on the kitchen table, and then be on the couch reading a magazine when they return. Just keep reading and do not say a word…let them discover the surprise on their own.
Although I have never had the opportunity to belong to the mile high club, I would sure like to. However, there are thousands of other places you and your loved could fulfill your marital duties:
. Sneak out onto a beach around one to two a.m.
. Want some real fun? Try a hammock!
. How about one of those large satellite dishes?
. Put a tent up in your back yard at 2AM.
. Find a large open field at one to two a.m. which is
swarming with thousands of fireflies.
Whatever you do, don’t try to fulfill your duties on a bicycle at 20 miles per hour! Imagine what you can do next!
